Hey Ty!

Thanks so much for the compliments! Our Dragon's Milk is the same as normal, aged for 30 days on 1st and 2nd use whiskey barrels. Perhaps the whiskey flavor was a bit heavier because the distillery did not empty the barrel all the way through, and there was a bit more whiskey? Also, ones palette may change based on what you ate recently, etc. Those are my only thoughts, but no, the recipe did not change. Thanks for reaching out and have a great weekend! :)

Hi Mike!

We do not have distribution in Alabama yet and that the law prohibits us from sending beer to a consumer or a store on our own.

You could, however, look into getting Dragon's Milk shipped from Binny's in Chicago. I checked and they do not list Alabama as a state that they do not ship to, so it is possible you could get some that way.

Thanks for drinking NHB!

Simply put, I've never had a New Holland Brew I did not like. While I prefer stouts to anything else, the Char Rye and el Mole Ocho where superb. First I enjoyed The Poet...then Night Tripper...then I had Dragons Milk...this is by far the best beer I've ever had. Though I've noticed in the last two or three months that it has more of a bourbon flavored dominance. Did anything change in the recipe or brew process? Either way it's still great. (I guess I can kinda understand the previous gentleman's frustration with not being able to find it. :) )
Keep up the great work!

Dave - We're pretty good sports around here, but you may want to reconsider your approach to providing customer feedback. Threatening to strangle us because as you say, "demand exceeds supply" is a bit extreme. I'll respond as best as I can, but know that any additional comments with threatening, demeaning or vulgar language will be removed, simply to keep things professional.

On to Dragon's Milk. We doubled our production in 2011 from 2010, and most markets including yours in Milwaukee, have seen incredible growth, well beyond forecast. Dragon's Milk is aged in bourbon barrels for 90 days, which requires time, space and investment, all of which we've increased to a great degree.

In short, we're making as much as we can, and built a 6,000 square foot, refrigerated cellar to provide for doubling in 2012 and again in 2013. It's a difficult beer to make, and we're proud that so many people like it.

Hopefully you an appreciate that while many brewers offer barrel aged beers as a once a year release, we've committed considerable resources to making Dragon's Milk a year-round, core brand across our entire market area.

We'll continue to make more as long as people continue to demand it, so hopefully it will be easier for you to find it.

Cheers -

*Also - don't be surprised if we move this discussion over to Dragon's MIlk, a more appropriate spot for the post.

I'd like to get my hands on your business people and strangle them. You have the best damn product and in simple terms demand exceeds supply. More than half the time the places that I want to buy it say they can't get it. I have threatened to burn their stores. Seriously, why can't you brew more Dragon's Milk?

Brett -

Congrats on the 40-40 selection; glad to have been part of your personal and professional growth and your contributions to your family and the community.

I trust that Jason will join in soon with his Brewery Vivant venture in GR. It would make terrific cents / sense that you BOTH are honored with hard work, energy, new ideas, customer interactions!!
